Who we are
We want to help you make films! We want to give you the skills to make your sets run as smoothly as possible, helping to make your films as cost-effective as possible. We want to give everyone the opportunity to discover the joy of film making.
Through practical and professional learning with our experienced tutors, we’ll have you shooting like a pro in no time.
Our aim is to become a full service support team for Indie Filmmaking in London. We’re starting with courses, but we plan to stage screenings and Q&A’s soon. One day we want to be able to offer practical funding support and maybe someday produce your feature films.
Our lead tutor, Chris Acton, has over 20 years experience in the broadcast industry in both drama reconstruction and documentaries.
Chris has always had a fascination with story telling, particularly with film. As a teenager he made short films and animation with his parents old Video 8 camera. He went on to get a degree in Broadcast Operation and Production from Ravensbourne College of Communication. His first job out of university was at a broadcast hire house, maintaining and servicing camera kit. There he learnt kit inside and out while working his way up to senior technician. He was also responsible for training shooting PDs how to use cutting edge tech.
Chris then moved on to crewing, working as a sound op, camera assistant and camera op on corporate and broadcast projects. Meanwhile he was making his own short films as a one man band, directing, shooting and editing. These pieces honed Chris’s story telling skills along with his technical skills.
Chris moved into broadcast production, quickly working his way up to a shooting producer director working for organisations like the BBC, Channel 5, Discovery Channel and National Geographic. At this time he developed his writing, script editing and edit producing skills.
Chris has shot and directed all over the world, working with celebrity talent, expert contributors and actors.
